Train Handling Management System
The Train Handling Management System has been developed to drive loaded ore trains to a car dumper, where it will automatically spot the train. After unloading, the empty train is automatically driven away from the car dumper.
When carried out manually this is a difficult process to get right but by automating the required steps time is recovered, increasing dumper productivity.
As well as reducing spotting time, the system has a train car positioning accuracy of less than 30mm.
Equipment is installed on the locomotive and the track and uses GPS signals to communicate positioning, triggering controls in the cab to manoeuvre and control the train accordingly.
A safety override feature monitors operations at all times and takes control of the train in the event of an emergency.
